We strongly support efforts to address climate change by reducing carbon emissions. But we are very worried about the questionable solutions that New York State has proposed. Here’s the backstory.
In 2019, Albany passed the Climate Leadership and Protection Act, which requires radical reductions in carbon emissions.
From what we can see, however, its implementation will raise all energy prices, add onerous taxes and equipment surcharges, force people to abandon the heating systems they like, disregard climate improvements that could be made without “electrifying everything,” and overload an already-fragile electric grid.
Alternatively, we, and others in the liquid fuels industry, continue to offer solutions that immediately reduces every customer’s carbon footprint without doing anything as potentially destructive, inequitable and insufficient as the plans coming out of Albany—no matter how well-intentioned their plan.
We at Bottini Fuel support sensible climate improvement. We just don’t support throwing the baby out with the bath water.
The proposed carbon tax will cost families an estimated $22,000 over 10 years. Go here to learn more and then join with us in making your voice heard.
